The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has issued a watershed conditions statement, warning of possible dangers caused by strong winds.
The warning is in effect until 9pm Wednesday.
The conservation authority says due to predicted wind gusts of up to 70 km/h, there is a chance of near-shore ice damage and erosion, with wave overtopping and spray. There is also the possibility of breakwall damage.
Western Leamington, west of Point Pelee National Park, east portions Kingsville, as well as the west and south shorelines of the Township of Pelee could be impacted.
ERCA says with 1-2 cm of water already on the ground and a chance of more rainfall, there is a possibility of standing water in and near frozen drainage inlets. The depths of standing water areas can pose a danger for children and pets.
