Human Trafficking Arrest In Windsor

A 27-year-old man from Laval, Quebec is facing multiple charges, including human trafficking and assault with a weapon, after an incident at a Windsor hotel.

Police said it happened early Monday morning, and involved an 18-year-old woman.

The teen had visible injuries and told officers that she had been assaulted by a man she had been staying with at the hotel.

She reported that she met the man in June of 2016, developed a relationship with him, and then became involved in the sex industry.

The victim also said the man ultimately directed her sex industry involvement, controlled her finances, clientele, and movements throughout Ontario and Quebec.

The Windsor Police Service is reminding the public, if you are a victim, or you know of a possible victim of human trafficking, help and assistance is available.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
