Quenneville To Speak At WESPY Awards

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville will be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual WESPY Awards in March.

The Windsor Essex Sports Persons of the Year honours athletes, coaches and administrators from all disciplines who excelled in the previous season.

WESPY Founder Domenic Papa says it's a huge honour to have a local hero, who continues to coach in the NHL, come to speak at the awards ceremony.

"We're thrilled about it and he's just been a tremendous ambassador for our city and we're certainly indebted to him to make the commitment and make the time to come back," says Papa.

The Coach of the Year award will be renamed in Quenneville's honour.

The 12th annual WESPY Awards will be held on March 7 at the Caboto Club of Windsor. Tickets go on sale February 6 and can be purchased online or at Bob Reaume Sports. The nominees for the awards will be announced within the next two weeks.
