UWindsor Students Again Being Polled On Athletics Facility

University of Windsor undergraduate students are again voting for or against $73-million worth of upgrades at the St. Denis Centre.

Final ballots are being cast Thursday.

School President Alan Wildeman says there was a referendum back in 2015, but the University of Windsor Students' Alliance has decided to redo it.

"What I really want, is as many students as possible to get out and vote," he states. "Because whatever the outcome is, I want it to be determined through tremendous engagement and a fair democratic process."

The Graduate Student Society also took a second vote on the project last fall, approving of it [contentiously] after turning it down in 2015.

Wildeman says the GSS still needs to ratify their latest referendum result, but expects that they will "sort through that" shortly.

The president says construction could get underway as early as 2018 if the school and its student bodies are on the same page.
