Community Canada150 Infrastructure Grants Announced

The federal government is helping Windsor and Essex County celebrate Canada's 150th birthday with $1.34-million in grants to improve community spaces.

The City of Windsor is getting funds for improving the Dieppe River Walk, Willistead Manor, the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Complex and the Windsor LOOP cycling network.

"If you look at each of the projects they bring together the community and they also generate economic property in terms of the building and renovations. The improvements will certainly to that and so I think it's a great story to tell," says MP Peter Fragiskatos.

The Municipality of Leamington is also getting funds for the expansion of the Kinsmen Baseball Diamond Field House. The Essex Region Conservation Authority will get some help with the rehabilitation of the Maidstone Conservation area and trails. Finally the Township of Pelee is getting funds for the renovation of Pelee Island Heritage Centre.
