UPDATE: Vollmer Complex Reopening Monday

The town of LaSalle will reopen the Vollmer Complex Monday after closing it Sunday.

The complex had been evacuated on Sunday afternoon after a small ammonia leak was detected.

Police and fire crews responded shortly before 2pm, after an alarm system in the complex's refrigeration plant room detected ammonia in the air.  As a precaution, the entire complex was evacuated so tests could be performed.

The town says the leak was caused by a leaking pipe in the arena's refrigeration system, and the pipe was removed from service.  The town announced around 9pm that air quality levels were back to normal.

The Vollmer Complex is hosting the town's Family Day celebration Monday.  Swimming and skating will take place as scheduled.
