UPDATE: Woman Who Escaped Police Custody Found

Windsor police say they have found a 36-year-old woman who escaped custody while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Amanda Cowan was reported missing on February 15.

She had been waiting for a court appearance at the Windsor Police Detention Centre when she showed signs she was in medical distress. Officers took her to the Ouellette Campus at Windsor Regional Hospital when she got away.

An arrest warrant was issued for her arrest.

Police now say they found Cowan in the 1400-block of Division Rd. west of Cabana Rd. Monday.

She now faces a charge of escaping lawful custody.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
