Downtown Mission Celebrates Coldest Night Of The Year

If you're walking to raise money for the Downtown Mission Saturday, dress warmly.

The Downtown Mission is holding its Coldest Night of the Year walk, starting at 664 Victoria Ave. in downtown Windsor.

There's a 2km, 5km and a 10km walk, and participants will be treated to a light meal.

The goal this year is $40,000, and the mission has already raised 49%, about $19,600.

Last year, the event raised enough money to provide 14,600 safe night accommodations and 265,000 meals, or about 725 meals a day.

Environment Canada's forecast calls for cloudy skies and a 30% chance of flurries with a low of -5C (23F).
