An Amherstburg woman hopes a chain of women's clothing stores will make a greater effort to embrace racial diversity after publishing a spring flyer titled "Celebrate Diversity, Embrace It, Share It, Love It", along with a photo of three Caucasian women.

Raquel Hurst noticed the flyer while shopping with her 15-year-old daughter at Laura in Devonshire Mall in Windsor Saturday.
"I believe firmly that when you advocate for and with children, they learn to see themselves as valuable and I want to raise her to be able to confidently advocate for herself in the future," says Hurst.
Hurst says she reached out to the company in an attempt to engage officials in a conversation about diversity.
"I was in their store, and they are supported by a diversity of customers," she says. "I saw women of different ages, and I saw several women wearing hijabs, so I just encouraged them to get to know their customers better."
She received a response from the company soon after.
"I think as a society we're often quick to celebrate diversity, but we fall short of making an effort to engage one another," says Hurst, adding that she hopes the company views her comments as a learning opportunity.
