UPDATE: Firearm Search Warrant Prompts Lockdown At High School

A hold and secure at an Amherstburg high school has now been lifted, after police concluded a firearms investigation in the town.

The Amherstburg Police Service says on Friday afternoon, officers executed a search warrant on Fort St. as part of a firearms investigation.

The Greater Essex County District School Board says it was asked by police to issue a hold and secure at General Amherst High School, while police conducted the search.

However, the lockdown was lifted after no firearms were located, and police say there is no further concern for public safety.

No charges are expected to be laid in connection with the investigation.
