Firefighters were called to an apartment house at 685 University Ave W around 4pm. A fire had broken out in the kitchen of one of the units.
The fire was quickly put out, but there was plenty of smoke. Fire crews remained on scene well after the fire was put out, ventilating the building and checking other units in the building for damage.
There were no injuries but damage is estimated around $70,000.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
