ERCA Issues Updated Flood Watch

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has cancelled the flood warning for the Municipality of Leamington and updated its flood watch for the entire region.

Water levels are elevated and are expected to continue to rise as the rain continues. In total, 45 mm to 55 mm of rainfall is expected through Saturday. The potential for flooding exists throughout the entire region, especially in low-lying areas adjacent to and within floodplain areas of all major waterways and shoreline areas.

The ERCA advises that changing wind conditions from north/northeast to north/northwest and strong wind gusts could cause flooding and shoreline erosion, as well as damaging waves along Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair.

It is reminding people to take extra caution and avoid rivers, lakes, ditches, streams and ponds.
