Flood Watch Issued Due To Wind

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for municipalities along Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair.

The conservation authority says due to existing elevated lake levels and northeast winds of 25-30 km/h in the forecast, the possibility of shoreline erosion and damaging waves exist.

The threat is mainly along the Lake Erie shoreline on the east side of Pelee Island, the southeast shoreline of the Municipality of Leamington between Wheatley Harbour and Point Pelee, and along the Lake St. Clair shoreline at the east limit of the City of Windsor, Town of Tecumseh and Town of Lakeshore.

ERCA advises residents to take extra caution and avoid shoreline areas as waves over topping break walls/shorelines can be extremely dangerous.
