Disc Golf Comes to Windsor-Essex

The first disc golf course in Essex County is celebrating its grand opening this weekend.

Located within Lakewood Park in the town of Tecumseh, the 18-hole course is the only disc golf course west of St. Thomas. The development of the course was funded by a Federal Canada 150 grant.

“Over the last year we have been finalizing a number of attractions within Lakewood Park,” says Paul Anthony, Director Parks & Recreation. “We were approached by the [Windsor-Essex Disc Golf] Association and we’re pleased to have been able to accommodate the course and we hope residents and visitors to the town take advantage of it.”

The Lakewood Cafe offers discs for a $10 deposit for users who do not have the proper gear for the course.

The ceremonial "first disc" will be held at the first hole at 11am Saturday.
