False Alarm At WFCU Centre

Police have given the all clear after a suspicious package was discovered in front of the WFCU Centre.

The Windsor Police Service says officers were called to the roundabout in front of the building at 8787 McHugh St., just before 8pm on Friday.  The area was blocked off by police as a Memorial Cup game between the Saint John Sea Dogs and the Erie Otters took place inside the arena.

The police bomb squad was called in as a precaution, but police officials say the suspicious item turned out to be a discarded backpack. Officers gave the all clear just after 9pm.

Police say no further investigation will be necessary.
