Rally In Honour Of Marentette

The Windsor District Labour Council will hold a rally outside the WSIB office in honour of the late Rolly Marentette.

Marentette was a local labour activist who lobbied for injured workers rights. He passed away on Thursday after being diagnosed with cancer.

"He was a major voice for people who were injured on the job," said Unifor Local 195 President Gerry Farnham. "A lot of times those people would be intimidated to go to the boss, to speak up or to put a report in with WSIB. Rolly was the kind of guy who would put his arm around you and walk you right through that situation. He's helped out so many in the community I can't even take a guess at how many people."

The rally will be on Injured Workers Day June 1, 2017 at 4pm at 2485 Ouellette Ave. It will be followed by a reception at the Fogolar Furlan Club from 5-7 pm.
