Search For Missing Canoeist Continues

The search continues for a 25-year-old man who went missing off the coast of Lake Erie in Kingsville on Sunday.

The OPP have set up a command post at the Leamington Marina and are working with the Kingsville Fire Department, EMS, and RCC Trenton on the recovery.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and helicopter are en route and will soon join in the recovery efforts.

The man was last seen fishing in a canoe around 5pm on Sunday. Friends on the shore witnessed the boat capsize. The man was not wearing a life jacket at the time.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
