UPDATE: Gas Rupture Contained in Tecumseh

The Tecumseh Fire Service says they have contained a gas rupture.

The fire service says the rupture was reported shortly before 5pm Saturday at Veronica and Dillon in the town's north end.

The rupture was caused by an excavator digging against a house in that area.

Firefighters evacuated neighbouring homes as a precaution and Union Gas was called in to make repairs.

The leak was contained within the hour, according to Tecumseh Fire, and Dillon Rd was reopened before 6pm.
