Windsor Police Lay Human Trafficking Charges

Windsor police have laid charges in a human trafficking investigation.

The investigation started when they received a call that an occupant of a taxi was refusing to pay his fair.

Police discovered that the male and female occupants of the taxi travelled to Windsor from Toronto.

Police arrested the male for fraudulently obtaining transportation.

After his arrest, the 25-year-old woman told police she was being controlled and recently exploited into the sex trade by the arrested male.

A 30-year-old male is now facing charges of human trafficking, breach of probation and fraudulently obtaining transportation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
