With Windsor's Open Streets Festival returning this September, the city is looking for volunteers to help run events and community partners to organize activities.
This year there will be one event on Sunday, September 17. The hours are from 10am to 5pm, and there are hubs in the works on Sandwich St., University Ave. W, Wyandotte St. W, and Drouillard Rd.
Last year, the city held two events in July and September.
New to Open Streets this year: an entire hub dedicated to Canada and Ontario's 150th anniversary. The Ontario 150 Hub will be on University Ave. W between Bruce Ave. and Janette Ave. Those that go will be invited to create their own Trillium with a 3D printer, help paint a mural, enjoy dance performances by local multicultural groups, or view First Nation exhibits.
Volunteers will be asked to greet visitors, make sure activities are going ahead safely, and supervising road barriers since streets will be closed to traffic. Shifts run from 8:30am to 1:30pm, and from 1:30pm to 5:30pm.
The city also needs partners in the community to organize free of charge events that promote health, physical activity, arts and culture.
