Not Just A New Dock, Leamington Needs A Bigger Dock

A consultant will do more than just investigate replacing the G dock at Leamington Marina -- they will look at the possibility of building a bigger dock.

Mayor John Paterson says the dock is not just getting busier; the boats are getting bigger.

"The current owners of the boats are kind of feeling the need to get into larger vessels," he says. "There's a 65 ft or a 67 footer that we're expecting in any time now."

The town will spend the next few months looking at different docking options before the consultant starts working in October. Paterson hopes to have the new, bigger dock G in place by next year's boating season, at the latest.

The consultant will cost the municipality $50,000, which will be covered by $530,000 left over from last year's budget.
