Walpole Island Man Arrested At Windsor Border

A 19-year-old man from Walpole Island accused of assaulting someone near a basketball park in Wallaceburg is in more trouble with the law, after he was arrested on the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor.

Police say the man was picked up by Canada Border Services at around 12am Tuesday after allegedly skipping a court date on June 13.

Officers say the man was supposed to appear in court in June to answer to a charge of aggravated assault in connection with an incident earlier this spring, but he never showed up.

The 19-year-old man is accused of seriously injuring someone who tried to stop an argument he was having with a younger male in Wallaceburg on May 22.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 16.
