Sandpoint Beach In Windsor Closed For Swimming

If you are thinking of going swimming at Sandpoint Beach in Windsor this weekend, you will want to rethink your plans.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says water testing conducted earlier this week shows an e.coli bacteria count of 1,000 parts per million.

Swimming is banned at Sandpoint this weekend.

There are also warnings posted at three other beaches in Essex County. They are Cedar Beach in Kingsville, Colchester Beach and West Belle River Beach. Testing in those waters found e.coli counts between 101 and 513 parts per million.

There are no concerns about swimming at six other beaches. It is allowed at Cedar Island Beach, Hillman Marsh Beach, Holiday Beach, Mettawas Beach, Seacliff Beach and Point Pelee North West Beach.

Water samples are taken on Tuesdays.
