Faculty Reach Tentative Deal With University

The Windsor University Faculty Association says it has a tentative four-year deal with the University of Windsor.

"Four months of hard bargaining by our negotiating team has led to an agreement that respects, supports and competitively compensates our members," says WUFA President Jeff Noonan.

The union has not released details of the agreement, saying it will say more about it when it has been ratified.

Earlier this summer, Noonan told BlackburnNews.com that talks were progressing slowly.

The university had requested a conciliator on June 30.  At the time, Noonan was skeptical.

"We didn't think it was a great idea. However, they filed, and we tried to meet in the interim, but the one meeting we had after they filed for the conciliator didn't really go anywhere," he said in July.

The union represents 800 professors at the university, and workload and respect were major issues during negotiations.
