SIU Investigating After Man Injured

Ontario's police watchdog is looking for witnesses after a man was seriously injured while getting arrested by Windsor police.

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances around the arrest of 22-year-old man on September 28, 2017.

They say plain clothes officers approached the man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants in a parking lot of an apartment building on Glengarry Ave.

There was an "interaction" between the man and the officers and he was placed under arrest. He was taken to the police station then taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
