Police Continue To Investigate Shooting

The victim of Wednesday night's shooting has been treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police discovered that the two people involved in the altercation met up by chance at the McGaffey Pharmacy on Tecumseh Rd. Words were exchanged over a longstanding dispute and they went outside to fight. During the fight a gun was produced and the victim was shot.

A 42-year-old man was arrested. Police say they seized some methamphetamine and a knife during the arrest, but a gun has not been found.

Many witnesses told police they saw an item being thrown into a white pick-up truck that had been driven away prior to the arrival of police. Officers found the truck on George Ave. It had blood on the outside as well as suspected bullet holes. The vehicle has been seized and police are seeking a warrant to search the vehicle.

Formal charges are pending.
