Lab Workers Ratify New Contract

Employees of the Medical Laboratories of Windsor have voted 81% in favour of a new contract bringing a three week strike to an end.

Around 90 lab technicians and lab assistants took to the picket line over wages.

"We're pleased to have a deal that recognizes the value of the members work," said Tullio DiPonti, Local 2458 Secretary-Treasurer. "We appreciate the support that we received from the public during this job action. Now that we have a resolution, the members are looking forward to once again delivering high quality service to patients in the Windsor community."

The three year agreement includes wage increases, improved benefits and increased vacation time.

The Medical Laboratories of Windsor has 11 locations throughout Windsor and Essex County.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
