Firefighters Extinguish Downtown Apartment Blaze

Unattended cooking is getting the blame for an apartment fire in downtown Windsor.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says the fire started in a fourth floor apartment unit at 166 University Ave. W.  The blaze was reportedly out by around 7:30pm.

Fire officials say no one was injured.

The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.

Police closed the westbound lane of University Ave. W between Victoria and Pelissier while fire crews were at the scene. The road has since been reopened.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
