Wrestling Match Leads to Critical Injuries

A man is fighting for his life in hospital and another is charged after a backyard wrestling match gone bad.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Elm Ave. near University Ave. around 6am Saturday. Windsor police say two men were having a consensual wrestling match in the backyard when one put the other in a choke hold, which caused the victim to lose consciousness. The man who administered the choke hold then started performing CPR and an ambulance was called.

When police arrived, paramedics were performing "life saving measures" before rushing the victim to hospital. He is in critical condition.

Officers arrested a suspect at the scene. Darcey Woodrich, 35, of Windsor is charged with aggravated assault.

The Major Crimes Branch is actively investigating this incident.
