Downtown Mission Meets $1M Goal

Thanks to a large donation from a Nature Fresh Farms and South Essex Fabricating, the Downtown Mission reached it's $1-million fundraising goal.

As of 5pm Tuesday, the mission had raised $965,200 in its Million Dollar Challenge. That's when a representative from the local company contacted them and said they would donate the rest.

“They told me, ‘Nature Fresh and South Essex Fabricating are behind you and we’ll donate the rest,’ and the goal was met, quickly followed by cheers of delight throughout our building!” says Ron Dunn, executive director of the Downtown Mission.

The $1-million raised will be matched by philanthropist Al Quesnel for a total of $2-million for the Downtown Mission Wellness Centre. It will go towards expanding services at the wellness centre including a new dental clinic.
