Several Injured In Downtown Fire

Several people have been taken to hospital after a fire at a downtown Windsor apartment building.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says the trouble began around 1pm Wednesday at the Royal Arms apartment building, a three-story complex at Ouellette Ave and Ellis St.

Crews were called after the building filled with smoke. Firefighters reportedly rescued people and pets through a window. At least three people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

There is no word on the cause of the fire or where it started, though Windsor fire officials say some people have been displaced.
