Firefighters Extinguish East End Blaze

A wood stove is getting the blame for a house fire in Windsor's east end.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service reported the fire just after 7pm on Thursday, on George Ave. between Ontario St. And Frankline St. The fire was brought under control quickly and has since been extinguished.

Fire officials say the blaze started in the attic after a wood stove pipe cause nearby combustibles to catch fire.

No injuries have been reported and all residents made it out of the home safely.

The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.

Fire officials are reminding all residents who have wood stoves to ensure their chimneys are cleaned regularly.
