Garage Fire Causes $220K In Damages

A garage and the vehicles inside it have been seriously damaged after a fire broke out on Hwy. 77 in Leamington.

The Leamington Fire Service says firefighters responded to the blaze around 8:15pm on Hwy. 77 between Mersea Rd. 7 and Mersea Rd. 8.  Fire officials say the garage was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.

Damage to the garage and vehicles is estimated at around $220,000.

Hwy 77 was closed in the area while fire crews were at the scene. The road was fully reopened just before 11pm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
