Lakeshore Fire Causes Extensive Damage

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Belle River home.

Lakeshore Fire and Rescue responded to a fire call around 3am Saturday at a home on Broadway near 11th St.

Crews were on the scene battling the blaze for several hours.

The occupants were not at home at the time and there were no injuries.

Fire officials say there was a lot of smoke and water damage to the property. The cause is under investigation but may never be conclusively identified due to damage.

Broadway between 11th St and Royal Cres. was blocked off until about 8am Saturday.

Damage estimate has also not been determined.
