UPDATE: Witnesses Sought in Belle River Boat Incident

Ontario Provincial Police are seeking witnesses in connection with a boat crash in Lakeshore.

Two people were injured when an 18-foot fishing vessel somehow slammed into a breakwall at the Belle River Marina around 4pm Saturday.

A 31-year-old woman from Cambridge, Ont. suffered serious injuries when she was thrown off the boat from the impact. It was not disclosed if she was still hospitalized and her name has not been released as of Sunday night.

The woman's companion, identified by the OPP as 34-year-old Stephen Elzinga of Caledonia, Ont., is charged with dangerous operation of a vessel causing harm, and operating a vessel with over 80mg of alcohol in blood, causing bodily harm.

OPP say several people may have seen what happened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
