Man Arrested For Multiple Vehicle Thefts

An Amherstburg man is facing charges after allegedly stealing several vehicles last week.

Essex County OPP were called on November 8 around 8:30pm after a truck that was left running in the parking lot of a bank was stolen.

When they arrived, officers found a vehicle that was reported stolen in Windsor earlier that day in the same parking lot. They allege the suspect ditched the vehicle and took the truck when he saw it running unattended.

The stolen truck was spotted a short time later at a gas station on Hwy. 3 in Tecumseh. When officers approached, the truck took off and they did not pursue for public safety reasons.

The vehicle was later seen pulling into a gas station on Walker Rd. The driver got out and officers were able to arrest him without incident.

A 21-year-old from Amherstburg is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, flight from police, resisting arrest, possession of break in instruments, and possession of a weapon.
