Vilardi Back With Spits But Won't Play

He won't be on the ice come game day, but Gabriel Vilardi is back with the Windsor Spitfires after a stint with the Los Angeles Kings.

Vilardi is being treated for a back injury he suffered while playing with the Kings. He's been undergoing treatment with their staff but is coming back to Windsor to practice with the Spits.

He is still restricted to no contact so he will not be playing with the Spitfires just yet.

“Gabe will be back with us for two weeks,” says Spitfires GM Warren Rychel. “He'll go back to L.A. at that point to be re-evaluated. For now, both [Kings GM] Rob Blake and I think he's best off getting back into the swing of things here, to see how far he's come.”

The Kings drafted Vilardi in the first-round pick, #11 overall, at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in Chicago back in June.
