Citizens Who Stop Car Break-In Attacked With Bear Spray

Two citizen crime fighters in Lakeshore were sprayed with bear spray after attempting to stop a car break-in.

Lakeshore OPP say around 12:30am Wednesday, the victims saw two people trying to break into vehicles on St. Charles St. When they approached and tried to chase the thieves they were sprayed with bear spray.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Lakeshore OPP at 519-728-1810.

OPP would also like to remind people that bear spray is only legal in Canada when used against attacking bears.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
