SIU Ends Windsor Police Investigation

An investigation into an incident involving Windsor Police has ended.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit, the province's law enforcement watchdog agency, has ended the probe into the arrest of a 31-year-old man on October 24 in the city's Remington Park neighbourhood.

According to the facts of the incident, Windsor Police officers were in the area of Capitol St and Lillian Ave when they spotted the man, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants. The officers chased the man to the rear of a home on Vanier St, where he was taken into custody.

The suspect complained of a sore hand and was taken to hospital.

SIU director Tony Loparco says the suspect's injury was not serious.

“The evidence shows the man did not sustain a serious injury. As such, I have terminated the investigation into this incident," says Loparco.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
