Attempted Murder Charges Laid In Shooting

An 18-year-old Windsor woman is facing an attempted murder charge after a 22-year-old man was shot on Saturday.

Police were called to a home on Union St. between Rankin Ave. and Partington Ave. around 10am Saturday morning.

The victim was found outside the home and was taken to hospital.

Witnesses on scene initially told police there was an intruder who came into the home, shot the man and then took off.

After an investigation by the major crimes branch and forensic identification unit police believe there was no intruder. Police say the shooting is "domestic related" and they are not currently looking for other suspects.

The victim remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, the 18-year-old female is facing a charge of public mischief for misleading police.

Two other women are also facing public mischief charges for misleading police.

The investigation is still ongoing. The involved firearm has not been found.

Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor Police Service at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477.
