No matter where you were travelling in Windsor-Essex Monday morning, slippery roads and accidents disrupted the drive into work.
On the first day back to school for thousands of students, school buses were cancelled as Environment Canada predicted periods of snow. Up to 10 cm is predicted before the temperature warms up enough to turn the snow into freezing rain.
The City of Windsor says the plows and salt trucks are out, but many roads remain snow-covered.
On Hwy. 3, commuters reported near zero visibility and long back-ups at the Arner Townline. Other drivers reported vehicles in the ditch between Essex and Leamington.
Police in Windsor reported a number of accidents too. Pillette Rd. was shut down between Grand Marais and Plymouth Rd. because of a water main break.
Traffic lights were also out for a couple of hours in east Windsor and Tecumseh because of a transformer fire.

On Hwy. 401, a jack-knifed tractor-trailer blocked westbound lanes at Bloomfield Rd. While in the eastbound lanes, a crash just east of Provincial Rd. blocked lanes during the commute.
Drivers are advised to brush off their vehicle properly, take their time, and leave a lot of space between their own vehicle and the one ahead.
