Police Dog Tracks Vehicle Thief

A police dog helped Windsor police arrest a suspect in a vehicle theft.

On Monday morning, a man left his truck running in a parking lot on Dougall Ave. and went inside a business. When he came out he saw his truck being driven away.

Later in the afternoon, the complainant saw his vehicle parked on University Ave. He also saw a man in possession of items believed to have been from the stolen vehicle.

When police arrived, the suspect threw some items on the roof of a house and took off. Officers established a perimeter and used a police dog to help find the suspect. He was found hiding in a nearby yard and was arrested without incident.

The 31-year-old male from Windsor is charges with possession of stolen property over and under $5,000.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
