$1M Investment At Lakeside Plastics Will Create Jobs

Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains has presented an Oldcastle company with enough cash to hire 60 new workers.

Bains visited Lakeside Plastics Wednesday morning to announce that the company is one of 11 to receive money from the $41-million Strategic Innovation Fund.

The other companies are in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.

In addition to the new hires, the investment will also secure 330 existing jobs.

Lakeside Plastics makes injection-moulded plastic parts for the automotive industry in North America, Central America, Asia, and Europe.

"To get the cars of the future, we have to start today," said Bains. "We are creating safer, more environmentally-friendly vehicles. That's good for all Canadians."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
