Inquest Into Death Of Construction Worker In Leamington

An inquest will be held into the death of a 44-year-old man killed on a construction site in Leamington.

Jacob Reimer died in hospital July 8, 2016, after being struck by an excavator.

An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act and will examine the circumstances surrounding the accident. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke will preside as inquest coroner and Gideon Block will be counsel to the coroner. The time and location have not been determined.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
