UPDATE: Amherstburg House Fire Considered Suspicious

A fire broke that broke out in an Amherstburg home has been deemed suspicious.

The Amherstburg fire department reported the fire on Thursday just before 5pm, at a home on Ridgeview Pl. N near Crownridge Blvd. Heavy smoke was seen emanating from the home when fire crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the main floor, however, the home sustained water damaged in the basement and smoke damage on the second floor.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but fire officials say damage is estimated at around $75,000.

An investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
