Greyhounds Outplay Spitfires 6-4

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a 6-4 decision to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday.

The Greyhounds scored two back-to-back goals early in the first period and another two in the second to take a 4-0 lead. Jake Smith scored after 6:11 to put Windsor on the board and Cole Purboo added another just over 14 minutes into the frame to cut the Greyhounds' lead in half.

Smith scored his second of the night to kick off the third, but the Soo responded with another goal of their own. Luke Kutkevicius scored for the Spits with just under nine minutes left to play, however, the Greyhounds kept Windsor at bay and added one more final goal one second before the buzzer.

Despite the loss, Windsor outshot Sault Ste. Marie 29-28.

The Spitfires will now head to Saginaw on Saturday to battle the Spirit at 7:05pm.
