Flu Outbreak At WRH Ouellette Campus

Windsor Regional Hospital is reporting a flu outbreak at its Ouellette campus.

According to a memo shared with hospital staff and the media, a respiratory outbreak of influenza-A has been reported by two patients and one staff member on 2-North in the Alternative Level of Care (ALC) unit. Four patients have also been affected on 7-Medical.

Symptoms of respiratory illness, according to the memo, include a new or worse cough and/or shortness of breath, with or without fever. Other symptoms include a runny nose, sore throat, nasal or chest congestion.

The hospital is continuing its current visitation policy of two visitors per patient and visitors are strongly encouraged to adhere to hand-washing and sanitizing per posted instructions.

The hospital is also asking people who are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms not to visit the hospital until their symptoms improve.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
