Man Found In Detroit River Dies

A man found in the icy Detroit River this week has died.

Just after 1pm Wednesday, emergency crews were called to the riverfront near Riverside Dr. E and Curry Ave. A witness said she saw a man and a woman in the river.

The man was seen in the water with his head down. He was pulled from the river and given life-saving measures by police and EMS before being rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Windsor police say the 53-year-old man died of his injuries Thursday. His name has not been released. The U.S. Coast Guard assisted Windsor Police in searching, without success, for what was thought to be a female in the river.

The WPS Major Crimes Division continues to investigate this incident.
