T2B Gala Hits $1-Million Mark

Transition to Betterness says its 21st Gala has broken a record, raising $1-million for cancer care in Windsor-Essex.

The first big cheque of the evening came from the Polewski family and their business Eagle Press which donated $20,000.

The most significant donation of the evening was for $500,000 from local philanthropist Alan Quesnel.

"Words cannot describe our sincere gratitude. All we can say is that you made Gala 21 a night that no one will forget," says Tara Paquette, Transition to Betterness's fund development and marketing coordinator in a release. "Your gift will provide so much comfort to those in our community."

Those at the gala also heard about a new partnership between Transition to Betterness, Mucci Farms, and Thermo Energy for phase two of the Dr. Lisa Ventrella-Lucente Healing Garden and Greenhouse project at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare. The project, the first of its kind in Canada, will supply the hospital with fresh produce and herbs.

The gala was held at Caesars Windsor on January 27.
