SIU Closes Investigation

Ontario's police watchdog is no longer investigating the Windsor police over an incident on Christmas Eve.

On the morning of December 24, 2017 a stolen vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of Empress St. and Westminister Blvd. Before police arrived on scene the driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle ran away. While going over a fence, the man who was the passenger in the vehicle came down on his ankle and injured it.

Police found the man and took him to hospital for treatment.

The SIU has found that the man was clearly hurt before police arrived and they have closed the investigation into the incident.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
